Project Background
The proposed flyover is situated at the junction of Serangoon Road, Bendemeer Road and Macpherson Road, and running in parallel with the existing elevated PIE viaduct. Perpendicular to the proposed viaduct MCF1 is the existing MRT North East Line (NEL) dual way tunnels, approximately 16m beneath Serangoon Road. Along the north side of the viaduct is the DDTS tunnel. As part of the interchange upgrading contract, a dual way cut-and-cover tunnel will be built right above the NEL and perpendicular to the proposed viaduct. The design of the flyover is required to be compatible and blend in with the existing viaduct and with due consideration on the project scale, site constraints and the structural form of the existing PIE viaduct.
