Project Background
Can Tho Bridge, being part of 2300km Highway No.1 starts
from the North of Vietnam linking China to NamCan in the South of
Vietnam, is located at the center of the Mekong Delta, about 167 km
from Ho Chi MinhCity.
The cable stayed main bridge crossing over 1.0km main
stream of Hau River consists of 7 continuous spans hybrid structure
(in-situ cast PC box girder and prefabricated steel box girder) with a
main span of 550m. The construction commenced in 2004 and was schedule
for completion in 2008.
Due to the construction incident on 26 September 2007,
YWL in association with Katahira & Engineers International is
been engaged to provide consultancy service to carry out independent
review of the design and construction of the cable-stayed bridge.
